On secret information, Sepahijala District Police with the 81st battalion of the BSF, TSR battalions, forest officials and other agencies raided the forest areas of Dhanirampur from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on 16 October.[1] They found five cannabis plots holding about 7,000 mature plants across roughly five acres and destroyed them on the spot.[1]
A follow-on foot search with drone cameras covered about 1,000 acres in the Bijoynagar area, where cannabis had grown last year; this time no fields were found.[1] Sonamura officer in charge Inspector Tapas Das briefed the media and said such operations would continue the next day.[1] The reports name no arrests.[1]
