Acting on secret-source information, Pradhannagar station police scored a big success: about 22 kg of ganja was seized near Siliguri’s Junction area and a youth named Nikhil Kumar was arrested; the detainee is a resident of Bihar.[1] Kumar had collected a large quantity of ganja in Cooch Behar and set out to smuggle it to Bihar; on Wednesday, while waiting for a bus in the Siliguri Junction area, a special police team raided and caught him.[1]
Kumar carried several bags full of clothes, and searching them stunned police: packet after packet of ganja lay hidden with great cunning among the clothes, weighing about 22 kg in all.[1] He was to be produced in Siliguri subdivision court on Thursday, and Pradhannagar police began investigating who else was involved in the ring.[1]
