A court in Mordovia sentenced three Saransk men for running a cannabis farm in
Kovylkino district and preparing marijuana for sale, Vestnik Mordovii reported on
10 April 2026.[1] The republican FSB said that in spring 2025 they planted more
than 100 narcotic plants at an abandoned homestead plot, tended them through
summer and processed material in a garage on Pushkin Street in Saransk.[1]
On 24 September 2025 FSB and Interior Ministry officers searched the plot and
garage.[1] They seized 82 cannabis plants, more than 400 grams of narcotic
material, 9,738 grams of dried plant matter and 487.9 grams of packaged
marijuana in a hidden cache.[1] Rambler, citing republican police, said about
five kilograms of marijuana was prepared for sale and the total seized cannabis
weighed about 9.7 kilograms.[2]
The court imposed sentences of 9.5 years on two defendants and 10.5 years on the
third in strict-regime colonies.[1]
