Federal police detained two men in an afternoon operation against retail drug dealing in the Tradición neighbourhood of Santiago del Estero city.[1][2] Officers from the Federal Operational Unit of Santiago del Estero carried out the operation in that part of the city during the afternoon.[1][2] The two detainees and everything seized were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.[1][2]

Officers seized 60 packets of cocaine and 20 packets of marijuana, which investigators said appeared ready for sale.[1][2] Officers also seized cash that police described as the suspected proceeds of prohibited-substance sales.[1][2]

The case is led by prosecutor Natalia Saavedra, with court measures under the control-and-guarantees judge Dr. Amestegui.[1] The Federal Police said the operation followed the guidelines of the national Security Ministry as part of its actions against drug retailing, known locally as narcomenudeo.[1]
