Naktideul police in Sambalpur district, Odisha, seized about 83 kg of ganja, the local term for cannabis, hidden beneath the trolley of an unregistered tractor.[1] On 30 October 2026, a special police team chased the tractor around 1.40 pm.[1] The tractor was going from Mushakani village towards Batgaon when police started following it.[2] The driver abandoned the tractor in a forest near Telisingha chowk and fled, and police searched the area but could not find him.[2]

Officers found the cannabis packed in a compartment under the tractor trolley.[1] Sambalpur’s superintendent of police put the weight at 83.009 kg and described the vehicle as a Mahindra tractor with trailer.[3] Police said the tractor and trailer were seized.[3] A case was registered under the NDPS Act.[3] Police were checking the chassis and engine numbers to identify the owner and trace the driver.[1] The market value of the seized ganja had not been assessed, the Times of India reported.[2]

Kanak News reported that the tractor was carrying the cannabis from the Boudh area towards Chhendipada.[4] The outlet said police were also examining allegations of a larger trafficking network.[4] Sambalpur police said they remained resolute in their fight against drug trafficking.[3]
