Anchalpur lies in the Rajendragram police station area of Anuppur district, Madhya Pradesh.[1] Rajendragram station house officer Virendra Kumar Barkare led the blockade with his team.[2][3] Officers chased him but he escaped into dense forest in the dark.[2] Police registered a case against an unknown accused under the NDPS Act.[2] Police were looking for the car’s real owner and the absconding accused.[4][5]

The car was a Duster with a Chhattisgarh number plate, CG 16 CA 9735.[2] A search found 211 kg 99 g of ganja.[4][5][3] Police estimated the value at 21.19 lakh rupees (2,119,900 rupees).[4][5][3] The bags were on the rear seat and in the boot, and police also seized the car, a mobile phone and a purse.[2] The number plate was registered in Chhattisgarh to a two-wheeler.[4][5] The chassis and engine numbers had been wiped with chemicals to hide the car’s identity.[4][5]

Superintendent of Police Ankit Soni said the seizure came during a statewide campaign against illegal drug trafficking under the NDPS Act.[2] Police had been told that suspicious cars were speeding from Amgawan towards Rajendragram carrying illegal goods.[2] The input also mentioned two cars escorting the vehicle.[2]
