Organized-crime police in Neamț County and prosecutors of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) searched a home in Dragomirești on Thursday 3 July 2026 and found a greenhouse about 170 by 10 metres holding 2,669 cannabis plants, roughly 2.4 tonnes of green plant mass.[1][2] Investigators said one suspect had started the crop in the yard in 2026 and the second had helped cultivate and tend it.[1][2]

Plants were arranged in rows with individual irrigation; a thermostat controlled temperature and humidity, and a nearby basin held about 10,000 litres of water for watering.[1] In an outbuilding officers found a room set up to dry, trim, pack and vacuum-seal cannabis, with presses, UV lamps and sieves for making hashish.[1] They also seized about 88 kg of dried cannabis (buds, leaves and stems), 400 g of buds, 50 g of resin and 50 g of frozen cannabis, plus precision scales and other evidence.[1][2]

Prosecutors ordered both suspects held on 3 July and on 4 July asked a judge for 30 days’ preventive detention.[1][2] The raid involved rural police sections, special-action officers and gendarmes.[1]
