DIICOT prosecutors from Caraș-Severin and organised-crime police carried out five house searches on 17 September 2026 after finding a cannabis plantation in an isolated area outside Berzovia.[1][2]
Investigators said four suspects aged between 19 and 53 set up and maintained the plantation during 2026 to sell the production.[1][2] They bought cannabis seeds from Spain through an online platform and chose land surrounded by dense vegetation, equipped with support and irrigation systems.[1][2]
The four were taken to the DIICOT office for questioning; the reports did not say whether any were arrested or how much cannabis was involved.[1][2]
