On 4 November 2026 the judicial court in Quimper sentenced a 28-year-old man from Quimper to two months of firm prison for repeat driving under the influence of cannabis.[1] He had first denied the offence and then admitted it at the 4 November hearing.[1] Prosecutor Philippe Lemoine had requested two months of firm prison and cancellation of the driving licence with a 12-month wait before retaking it, and presiding judge Noélie Carval followed those requests.[1]

Gendarmes had stopped the man at 4:20 a.m. on 1 January 2026 at a toll in the commune of Voreppe in Isère while he was on holiday with his family.[1] His licence was immediately retained because he tested positive for cannabis.[1]

He first said he had only used CBD and then admitted that he had smoked a joint for Christmas.[1] He told the court he had stopped cannabis with the help of CBD in 2022 but relapsed at Christmas by smoking a joint with friends, which ruined his holidays, and he expressed regret for his behaviour.[1]
