Four young men in their twenties were tried for drug trafficking at the Bayonne
judicial court on 3 November 2026, with two of them also facing weapons charges.[1]The court sentenced all four to firm prison terms ranging from eight months
to five years and ordered their continued detention.[1]
Police arrested the group on 25 September 2025, ending about a year and a half
of trafficking.[1]Three of the defendants, aged 22 to 23, dealt mainly in
cocaine but also sold cannabis.[1]They sold cannabis and cocaine locally in
the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Landes.[1]A search recovered 12,000 euros in
cash, a pump-action shotgun and a pistol, reportedly bought in a Traveller camp.[1]
The network was run from the ZUP district of Bayonne.[1]The drugs were cut
and packaged in a rented room at the Mer et golf loisirs hotel in Anglet.[1]That room was guarded around the clock and held a pistol inside.[1]Two of the
defendants each supplied 50 to 100 clients.[1]WhatsApp messages mentioned
daily takings of about 1,200 euros.[1]Written messages, indiscreet phone
calls and easily traced movements gave investigators the evidence for the case.[1]
