The Qena Criminal Court punished a trader with 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of 100,000 pounds.[1][2][3] The conviction was for possessing hashish, a foreign-made automatic weapon and a bullet.[1][2][3] The panel was headed by Counsellor Islam Mohamed Hamza, with Counsellors Tamer al-Amir al-Taher and Ahmed Abu al-Qassem al-Sharif as members.[1] Prosecution representative Mostafa Abdel Samad attended, with secretaries Salah Farrag, Ahmed Abdel Sattar Abdel Hamid and Alaa Selouk.[1]

The events date to January 2026, when security forces arrested the accused.[1][3] The accused worked as a trader in Dandara village in Qena Governorate.[1][2][3] The public prosecution charged him with possessing hashish and methamphetamine, plus a foreign-made automatic weapon and a bullet.[1][3]

He was also accused of attempting to assault a mabahith investigation officer during his arrest, mabahith being Egypt’s criminal-investigation police.[1] The case, registered as No. 747 Kolli Qena, was referred to the criminal court.[1][2][3] The court then imposed the 10-year rigorous term and 100,000-pound fine for drug-and-weapon possession.[1]
