Phuket province is strictly enforcing the law against selling cannabis without a licence.[1] On 4 November 2026 at 15:15, Phuket governor Chotinrin Kerdsom directed deputy governor Romdon Haji-awa and Mueang Phuket district chief Siwat Rawangkun to have Mueang Phuket administrative and public-health officers inspect and suppress unlicensed cannabis sales in Mueang Phuket district.[1] District security chief Apichat Chantrawong led administrative and public-health officers to inspect a cannabis shop on Ratsada Road in Talat Nuea, Mueang Phuket, Phuket.[1] Officers found the shop had no licence related to selling cannabis.[1] Officers arrested the 41-year-old woman who owns the shop.[1]

Officers seized 36 cannabis items.[1] Officers seized seven other items.[1] Officers seized 123,290 baht in cash.[1] Officers recorded the arrest and handed the detainee and seized items to investigators at Mueang Phuket Police Station for legal proceedings.[1]

The Phuket governor instructed administrative officials to work with relevant agencies to inspect offending businesses and enforce the law seriously and continuously.[1] Officials said the aim is to keep business operation lawful, maintain order and protect public safety in Phuket.[1]
