Ontario Provincial Police seized 3,100 marijuana plants from the former Nordik Imperial Mushroom farm in North Stormont on Tuesday 6 March 2007, acting on a tip through Crime Stoppers.[1] Police called it the largest indoor marijuana grow operation ever found in eastern Ontario.[1]

Detective Sergeant Paul Henry said the operation was the most impressive he had seen in more than twenty years as an officer, adding that product from such a large operation so close to the border was likely destined for the United States.[1] Officers also seized an estimated C$230,000 in lighting systems, C$400,000 in building supplies and an isolation transformer; the plants were valued at C$1,000 each.[1]

Eight people aged 26 to 54, from the Toronto area, Ottawa and rural eastern Ontario, were arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with production of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking.[1]
