Second raid in week at Ottawa shop; 1 held, 2.7 kg seized
Ottawa police searched a Preston Street retail shop for the second time in seven days on 29 October 2026, arresting a 25-year-old man on cannabis, tobacco and proceeds charges. Officers seized about 2.74 kg of cannabis flower, pre-rolls, hash and THC products, plus psilocybin, nicotine vapes and contraband tobacco that are excluded from the cannabis total.
Ottawa police arrested a 25-year-old Ottawa man during the 29 October 2026
search of a retail business on the 200 block of Preston Street.[1][2][3]He faces
charges of possession of illicit cannabis, unlawful sale of cannabis, sale of
unpackaged, unstamped tobacco, possession of property obtained by crime and
possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of trafficking under the
Cannabis Act, Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.[4][3]Police
released him on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.[4][2][3]
Officers seized approximately 5 pounds of cannabis flower, 407 grams of
pre-rolled cannabis, 38 grams of hash and 27,800 mg of THC products.[1][5][2][3]Police
also seized 24 grams of psilocybin products, 24 nicotine vape devices, 12,120
contraband cigarettes, 70 cigars, two televisions and approximately $335 in
Canadian currency, which are not counted as cannabis.[4][2][3]Centretown
Neighbourhood Resource Team members with Tactical Section assistance executed
the search under a Criminal Code warrant tied to the unlawful sale of cannabis
and nicotine products.[4][3]
Police said it was the second search warrant executed at the same Preston Street
location within the previous seven days for similar offences.[4][5][2][3]Police said
the earlier search on 23 October 2026 followed community complaints about
illegal cannabis and nicotine sales at the same location.[4][2][3]Police said they
remain focused on illegal storefront operations that undermine public safety,
evade regulatory requirements and contribute to the illicit cannabis and tobacco
market.[4]
