Ottawa police arrested a 25-year-old Ottawa man after searching a business in
the 200 block of Preston Street in Little Italy on 23 and 29 October 2026.[1]He was charged with possession of illicit cannabis, unlawful sale of cannabis,
sale of unpackaged and unstamped tobacco, possession of property obtained by
crime, and possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of
trafficking.[1]
Police said the searches investigated the illegal sale of cannabis, nicotine and
other controlled substances.[1]In the 23 October search, officers seized4.79
kilograms of cannabis products, along with 40 vapes, 14,285 contraband
cigarettes and 95 cigars.[1]In the 29 October search of the same location,
officers seized about two kilograms of cannabis flower, 407 grams of pre-rolled
cannabis, 38 grams of hash and 27 grams of THC products.[1]The second search
also yielded 24 grams of psilocybin, 24 vapes, 12,120 contraband cigarettes, 70
cigars, two televisions and $335 in cash.[1]
The two searches, a week apart at the same Little Italy business, together
produced about 7.26 kilograms of cannabis products alongside the tobacco and
other items.[1]
Only one opened source supports this event; no second report of the Preston Street searches was found, and a similar Ottawa Citizen report about a Bank Street tobacco seizure is a different event.
The second-search cannabis flower weight was reported as around two kilograms, so the combined cannabis total of about 7.26 kg is approximate.
The full charge list is taken from the article's charge headings; the article does not state the accused's name or any court outcome.
The vapes seized were not identified as cannabis or nicotine products, so they are excluded from the cannabis weight.
The 24 grams of psilocybin, contraband cigarettes, cigars, televisions and cash are non-cannabis items in the same searches and are excluded from the cannabis figures.
The only image on the source page is an undated generic Ottawa police vehicle photo that does not show this event, so no media entry is listed.
Sûreté du Québec officers and Mashteuiatsh public security searched a home on rue Renaud in Mashteuiatsh and seized cocaine, methamphetamine tablets, cannabis including edibles, magic mushrooms and about $3,000 cash. One person was questioned and police said drug-trafficking charges were being considered.
Police in Saguenay carried out ten searches on 30 October 2026 against a cocaine distribution network, seizing 16 kg of cocaine, more than $335,000 in cash and about 140 g of dried cannabis. Two people were arrested and released with a promise to appear, with possible cocaine-trafficking and stolen-property charges.
Ottawa police searched a Preston Street retail shop for the second time in seven days on 29 October 2026, arresting a 25-year-old man on cannabis, tobacco and proceeds charges. Officers seized about 2.74 kg of cannabis flower, pre-rolls, hash and THC products, plus psilocybin, nicotine vapes and contraband tobacco that are excluded from the cannabis total.
Two men, aged 27 and 24, were charged after Hamilton Police shut down two illegal cannabis dispensaries on 29 October 2026, including a Wellington Street North store that had reopened after an earlier search. Police said about 30 illegal dispensaries still operate in the city and warned that reopening after enforcement would bring further action.
