The Sûreté du Québec’s Contraband Investigations Service, Nicolet-Yamaska regional police and investigators from the Mauricie major-crime division took part in the Nicolet operation on 17 June 2026.[1][2] The investigation began in December 2025; officers searched five residences and targeted three vehicles.[1][2] About 40 officers and specialized SQ teams were mobilized. Vingt55 reported the operation was part of Quebec’s ACCES-Cannabis program, which targets cannabis contraband across the province.[1][2] Le Courrier Sud reported the operation had been under way in Nicolet since that morning.[1]

Police reported seizing more than 280 cannabis plants, nearly 90 kilograms of dried cannabis, nearly two kilograms of hashish, about C$1,500, accounting records, three long guns with ammunition and equipment used to produce cannabis.[1][2]

Four people were arrested and released while proceedings continued; the sources said they could face allegations of selling, distributing or producing illicit cannabis.[1][2] Vingt55 described the inquiry as targeting a network involved in producing and distributing illicit cannabis.[2]
