Police in Namanga, Kajiado County, seized 84 kilogrammes of bhang valued at Sh2.5 million from a Kenya-bound passenger bus arriving from Tanzania, arresting the driver and conductor, both Tanzanian nationals.[1][2]
The bus, registration number T372 DWL and operated by Kidia One Express, was intercepted at the Namanga One Stop Border Post during routine checks by a multi-agency team of the Anti-Narcotic Unit, Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya Wildlife Service and the Police Dog Unit, acting on intelligence.[1][2] Sniffer dogs led officers to the busβs fuel chamber, where a detailed search recovered four tightly wrapped bundles containing 84 packets of bhang weighing 84 kilogrammes, each packet worth about Sh30,000.[1][2]
The crew members β driver George Ngoba, 37, and conductor Trisha Lucas, 25 β were arrested on the spot; the bus and narcotics were detained as exhibits.[2][3] The two were helping with investigations and were to be arraigned once complete, while detectives pursued the main suspect believed to have been waiting in Nairobi to receive the consignment.[2][3]
