Three suspects were arrested early Sunday morning along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway in possession of 203.4 kg of cannabis valued at Sh6.1 million.[1][2] Mohamed Omondi, 49, Lilian Achieng, 36, and Patrick Wambua, 30, were intercepted at Bonje in Jomvu Sub-County at 6:45 am aboard trailer KDL 915L.[1][2]
Jomvu Sub-County Police Commander Celina Chirchir said a multi-agency team led by the Anti-Narcotics Unit acted on a public tip-off, laying a trap from 4 am; searching the trailer found three unauthorised occupants and three sacks of cannabis.[1][2] The lorry had been under surveillance from Uganda, entering Kenya through Malaba before diverting to Thika — where the driver claimed to deliver chicken feed — and on toward Mombasa.[1][2]
Chirchir said the woman suspect had long been on police radar, evading arrest under multiple false identities; officers recovered her genuine national ID in the operation.[1][2]
