In two separate operations, Air Intelligence Unit officers at Mumbaiโs Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport arrested two Delhi women who had arrived from Bangkok allegedly carrying cannabis to smuggle into the country.[1] Together the officers seized 1.874 kg.[1]
In the first case, officers acting on intelligence stopped Neetu of Delhi after her flight landed and found four clear plastic packets of high-grade cannabis weighing 910 grams in her check-in and hand baggage.[1] She admitted the concealment and seizure in a recorded statement and was arrested.[1]
In the second, officers stopped Rajni, also of Delhi, after her Bangkok arrival and found three plastic packets holding about 964 grams in her luggage.[1] She likewise admitted failing to declare and concealing the drug and was arrested under the NDPS Act.[1] The unit is investigating whether both women belonged to one coordinated Bangkok-based smuggling network and is tracing handlers and associates.[1]
