A Crime Branch Sector 65 team led by Sub-Inspector Arun, patrolling near Rajiv Chowk on the intervening night of 25 and 26 October, stopped a Rajasthan-registered truck on a tip-off and found 23 sacks of cannabis weighing 673 kg hidden beneath 767 bags of plastic granules.[1] Police valued the drug at about Rs 1.25 crore, and also seized the granule bags, 15 containers and the truck.[1]
The consignment was travelling from Odisha to Bhiwadi in Rajasthan, according to police.[1] The arrested men are Sabir, 34, the truckโs owner-driver from Udaipur village in Khairthal district, and Sanawar, 19, his cleaner from Mirzapur village in the same district; Sabir had hired the cleaner for Rs 20,000 a month, and the pair were promised Rs 2 lakh for the run.[1] Police say it was their third such trip, after two earlier consignments moved the same way.[1]
A case was registered at Sadar police station under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act, and a court remanded both men to ten days of police custody while officers trace the wider supply network.[1]
