Narcotics detectives at Medan city police raided a warehouse disguised as a chicken coop in Deli Serdang on the night of Wednesday 28 October 2026.[1][2][3] The coop stood in Desa Marindal I, Patumbak, Deli Serdang.[4][5][6][7][2][8][9][10][11][12][13][14] Police arrested two close friends and seized 18 kg of dried cannabis.[1][5][6][15][7][2][3][10][13] Police identified the two as MF, 28, of Jalan Cinta Karya in Medan Polonia, and DS, 19, of Jalan Bajak V in Medan.[4][9][10] MF was caught in the parking area of a fast-food restaurant on Jalan AH Nasution in Medan with 2 ons, or 200 grams, of dried cannabis.[1][16][2][9][3][10][13][14] DS was caught on Jalan Brigjen Katamso with 1 kg of cannabis.[1][5][16][2][8][3][11][12][13][14] Officers found another 17 kg of dried cannabis in a safety box inside the coop.[4][5][6][7][16][2][8][9][3][10][11][12][13][14]

The coop was remote and far from houses.[17][15][7][16][8][3][10][12] Police said the building did not look suspicious from outside because it resembled an ordinary house.[17][5][6][7][8][9][18][10][12] Police said the cannabis came from Aceh and the operation had run for about three months, supplying Medan and the surrounding area.[17][6][15][7][16][2][8] Police named a third man, FS, as the suspected controller of MF and DS.[1][5][6][15][7][16][2][8][9][3][10][12][13] FS was placed on a wanted list and was being hunted, police said.[1][10][13] The two detained men face more than five years in prison over the trafficking allegation, Metro TV reported.[19][15]

Police put the total cannabis seized in the case at about 18.2 kg.[5][11] Police said DS was suspected of acting as a distributor who stored cannabis before it was supplied to several locations.[5][6][16][11][12]

After MF’s arrest, officers developed the case and then arrested DS, the narcotics chief said.[16][2][8][11] Rafli said the 200 grams found on MF was about to be distributed when officers stopped him.[16][8] After questioning, DS directed officers to the chicken coop in Desa Marindal, Patumbak.[16]

Police said MF and DS had been friends since childhood.[8][18][12]

AKBP Rafli Yusuf Nugraha, head of the Medan city police narcotics investigation unit, briefed reporters on Friday 30 October 2026.[11]

The cannabis was hidden in a safety box to avoid detection by officers.[14]
