Federal agents closed three unlicensed cannabis shops in Massena on 20 May 2026 during Operation Weed Out along New York’s northern border.[1][2]
The Drug Enforcement Administration said Uncle Crandy’s, Vape Bank/All the Smoke Massena (formerly 1 Willow Cannabis Co.) and Famous A’s had sold marijuana and THC products without state licences and offered items banned under New York law, including candy-bar-style THC, high-potency gummies and cartoon-labelled packages.[1][2] Civil forfeiture complaints in the Northern District of New York allege Uncle Crandy’s and Famous A’s also sold marijuana to an underage undercover officer.[1][2]
Special Agent in Charge Farhana Islam said the operation seized more than 1,000 pounds (about 454 kg) of marijuana and THC-related products, 40 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and about 20 illegal firearms, including an AK-47, five AR-15-style rifles and weapons with extended magazines.[1][2] WWNY reported that agents also searched homes and a warehouse in Hogansburg the same week and that a Plattsburgh news conference on 21 May displayed seized goods in trucks.[2]
The DEA, FBI, HSI, IRS Criminal Investigation, Massena police, St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Plattsburgh police are investigating with the U.S. Marshals Service.[1] Massena Police Chief Cody Wilson and local sheriffs said Massena intelligence had fed the federal case.[1][2]
