Officers on an anti-drug mobile-court drive detained 60-year-old Sukumar Saha with 10 grams of ganja in the Barai area of Manikganj Sadar.[1] A mobile court, an executive magistrate-led court that tries offences caught on the spot, convicted him for consuming drugs and for creating social disorder through that consumption.[1] The court sentenced him to 15 days of imprisonment and fined him 100 taka.[1]

The operation took place on Tuesday 3 November 2026 at Saha’s own house in Barai under Sadar police station, organised by the Manikganj district office of the Department of Narcotics Control, the national anti-drug agency.[1] Officers recovered and seized 10 grams of ganja, the local term for cannabis, from Saha during the raid.[1] Officers then filed a mobile-court case for drug consumption and disorderly conduct, and the court imposed the sentence after hearing the case.[1]

The convicted man is a resident of Barai in Manikganj Sadar, the son of the late Sudhir Saha and Maya Rani Saha.[1] Local observers were quoted as saying such departmental operations will play an important role in preventing drug abuse and social disorder.[1]
