Officers on an anti-drug drive in Uzirpur detained 34-year-old Mamun Hawlader with 50 grams of ganja, the local term for cannabis.[1] A mobile court held at the scene gave him one month of imprisonment without labour and a 100-taka fine.[1] Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Ali Suja, the chief executive of the subdistrict, conducted the mobile court and imposed the one-month term and 100-taka penalty.[1]

The operation took place on the morning of Tuesday 3 November in the Dhamura area of Uzirpur, and the mobile court was held at the same place immediately after the detention.[1] The convicted man is the son of Shah Alam of the Dhamura area.[1]

Barishal Department of Narcotics Control inspector Md Jahidul Islam confirmed the operation and the punishment through the mobile court.[1] The drive was presented as part of the administration’s regular operations to control narcotics.[1] The authorities emphasised continuing such drives to check the spread of drugs and drug-related crime in the area.[1]
