Shkodër police arrested four men and seized 265.4 kilograms of suspected cannabis after an operation they called Polinomi.[1][2] Admir Selgjekaj, 38, Elsid Ramci, 25, and brothers Bujar Kukaj, 56, and Naim Kukaj, 52, were arrested in the act.[1] Police said all four live in Malësi e Madhe and have earlier records for the same kind of activity.[2] Balkanweb added that the people named are presumed innocent until a final court decision.[1]

Officers stopped a Volkswagen Passat driven by Ramci in the Guraj neighbourhood of Malësi e Madhe.[1][2] Searches of that car and of the homes of Bujar and Naim Kukaj produced 265.4 kilograms of cannabis packed for sale, together with seven mobile phones and six vehicles.[1][2] On a plot owned by Bujar Kukaj they also found two objects they treated as suspected anti-tank mines and handed them to army engineers.[1][2]

Police said the inquiry had run for four months with the prosecution.[1] On their account the Kukaj relatives stored and packed the cannabis, while Selgjekaj, Ramci and Anarldo Mulleti, 39, arranged transport and sale inside and outside Albania.[1][2] Esat Kukaj, 58, Denjan Kukaj, 23, and Mulleti were declared wanted.[1] The case sits with the prosecutor at the first-instance court of general jurisdiction in Shkodër.[2] Director Dashamir Spaho gave the figures at a press conference of the Shkodër local police directorate.[1]
