A mobile customs unit stopped a ride-hailing car coming from Aboisso on the Moossou bridge and found 78 balls and 40 slabs of cannabis, 74 kg in all. The driver and two passengers were detained.
The interior ministry's 2025 performance report put illegal cannabis cultivation at 20,627 hectares, down from about 134,000 hectares in 2003. It presented the fall as part of its supply-reduction strategy alongside the legal programme. The area remains far larger than the 3,141 hectares in legal production that year, and the figure is a government estimate rather than an independent survey.
Six plots covering 6.5 hectares in Teupin Reusep, North Aceh, held about 97,000 cannabis plants and 69 tonnes wet weight; 151 personnel destroyed them in place on 6 November 2025. The village is one of four alternative-development pilot sites where BNN is trying to move growers to legal crops.
Police in Bohicon arrested two motorcyclists coming from Azovè with 130 kg of cannabis in 237 slabs, packed in six sacks made to look like bags of maize. The men were handed to the central anti-drug office, Ocertid, for investigation.
