Mahasamund police arrested two alleged smugglers from Uttar Pradesh with ganja hidden in a container truck.[1][2] The men identified themselves as Amandeep, 27, and Lallu Yadav, 24, both residents of Jaunpur district.[1][2] The Anti-Narcotic Task Force and Saraipali police stopped the suspect container at the Khamharpali RTO barrier after a tip that a large ganja consignment was being taken from Odisha through Chhattisgarh toward Raipur.[1][2] Police registered a case at Saraipali police station under Section 20(b) of the NDPS Act and sent both accused to judicial remand.[1][2]
Officers searching the container found 117 packets concealed in four bags among about 300 rice bags.[1][2] The search recovered 120.960 kilograms of ganja, which police estimated to be worth Rs 6,048,000.[1] Police put the ganja’s value at about Rs 60.48 lakh and said the total seizure together with the container and other goods exceeded Rs 1 crore.[1] Besides the drug, officers seized the container vehicle valued at about Rs 30 lakh and two mobile phones from the accused.[1]
Police said the seizure was made in Mahasamund district under Operation Nishchay.[1] Police said investigation into forward and backward links was continuing to trace the supply chain, source, destination and financial network.[1]
