District excise officials carried out special checks against cannabis transport and country-made liquor in Mahabubabad district under District Prohibition and Excise Officer Karanchand.[1] Around Mahabubabad railway station and near Kuravi Gate, officers found 1.4 kg of dried cannabis hidden in bushes beside the railway track on Anantharam road and seized it.[1] No one was reported as arrested with the cannabis.[1]

Separately in the same operation, officers raided Bhangya Thanda, Rayini Patnam and Islavath Thanda villages in Kuravi mandal, a subdistrict, over illicit country liquor.[1] Two women were caught with natusara, a locally distilled illicit liquor, while officers seized 10 litres of that liquor along with 50 kg of black jaggery and 20 kg of alum.[1] Cases were registered over the liquor, and three persons arrested in those natusara cases were produced before the tahsildars of Kuravi and Bayyaram, local revenue officers, where bind-over proceedings were started.[1]

Excise Circle Inspector Ram Prasad warned of strict action over cannabis and liquor sale or transport and said surveillance of illicit liquor making and narcotics transport would continue.[1] Excise Sub-Inspector Srinivas, trainee Sub-Inspector Dhanalakshmi and constables Nagaraju, Gopi and John Pasha took part in the raids.[1]
