A joint police and circle-administration team raided a house at Ward No. 13 in Nawabganj Purab Tola, Muradpur panchayat, in the Sameli-Kursela area of Katihar, Bihar, on Tuesday.[1] Officers detained and then arrested the wife of householder Bhagat Lal Muni, who was present during the search.[1] Other members of the household fled while the raid was under way.[1]

The team searched Bhagat Lal Muni’s house and recovered 48 kg of ganja.[1] Kursela police said they had received a tip that ganja was being bought and sold in Nawabganj Purab Tola, which station chief Rakesh Kumar verified before moving in with force.[1] Sameli circle officer Priyaranjan Kumar joined the raid alongside the police.[1]

Police described the action as a joint operation against the illegal narcotics trade in the area.[2] Station chief Rakesh Kumar said the operation yielded 48 kg of ganja and one woman’s arrest.[1] Police said they are identifying others linked to the ganja trade and continuing efforts to arrest them.[1] Police said further legal action will be taken under the NDPS Act.[1]
