Colombia’s National Police seized about 180 kilograms of marijuana in a rural area of La Victoria, in northern Valle del Cauca.[1][2] Officers acted after a report that a vehicle had overturned on a secondary road.[1][2] The marijuana was being carried in a red stake-bed truck that had been abandoned after the crash.[1][2] The account names no arrests and says prosecutors must still establish responsibility and identify those behind the shipment.[1]
During the search, officers found a fitted hidden compartment, described as a caleta, in the truck body and additional packages hidden in the cab.[1][2] The inspection recovered 85 rectangular packages wrapped in black plastic containing marijuana.[1][2] Authorities put the approximate weight at 180 kilograms and estimated its commercial value at about 36 million pesos.[1][2] The truck used to move the load was appraised at about 15 million pesos.[1]
Both the drugs and the vehicle were seized and immobilized and placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for the corresponding judicial proceedings.[1][2] The operation took place amid road control and prevention actions in the department, where Valle’s mobility secretary has urged timely reports of suspicious situations affecting road safety or enabling illicit activity.[1]
