The Anti-Narcotics Unit with Kenya Police arrested an Italian national and his Kenyan accomplice after uncovering a cannabis farm and laboratory in Mwabungo village, Ukunda, Kwale County.[1]

The targeted one-acre compound hid behind towering perimeter walls and a heavily secured gate, under discreet surveillance for days on intelligence of suspicious activity.[1] Inside, investigators found a grow house with mature cannabis plants under controlled conditions, laboratory equipment and chemicals believed for narcotics processing, and packaging materials bearing labels of known illegal substances.[1]

Arrested were 37-year-old Gianardi Giulio and Moses Nanoka Egadwa, held as detectives pieced together the operation’s scale, tracked accomplices and probed links to a broader Coast trafficking network exploiting international routes.[1] Formal charges were expected in the coming days.[1]
