Police arrested Mohan Vaskale and Sadu Solanki, both residents of Harankundiya, a village in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh.[1] A third man from Haranmal, Sujan Chauhan, was named in a separate case and was still being sought.[1] The arrests followed raids on three cannabis fields in Harankundiya and Haranmal on the afternoon of Saturday 31 October 2026.[2] Officers seized 930 plants, weighing 459 kg 600 g, and valued them at 68 lakh 93 thousand rupees.[1] Police registered three separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, India’s drug law, one against each of the three men.[1] The two arrested men were sent to jail.[2]

In Harankundiya, 450 plants came from Vaskale’s field and 355 from Solanki’s.[2] The remaining 125 were found on encroached land beside Chauhan’s house in Haranmal, police said.[2] The operation took place in a ‘shadow area’ with no mobile network, Bhikangaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer Ketan Adlak said.[1]

A joint team of more than 50 officers from the Chainpur, Bhikangaon, Bhagwanpura and Gogawan police stations and the police line carried out the operation.[2] The team used a drone to search the fields.[1] Officers reached them through river, hill and difficult paths.[2] Uprooting, carrying and seizing the plants took about six hours.[2] The operation was part of a state-level anti-narcotics campaign that the police headquarters in Bhopal is running from 27 October to 10 November.[2]
