Police in Badnawar, in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, found 220 cannabis plants.[1] The plants were at Tilgaripada Borda.[2] They were growing in the cotton field of Bijal, son of Varda, among cotton and pigeon pea, known locally as tuvar.[2] Police registered a case against Bijal under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.[2]

Officers seized the plants, which weighed 250.30 kg in all, police said.[1] Police put the value of the seized cannabis at about 25 lakh rupees.[1]

The search took place on Saturday, 31 October, at the field in Tilgaripada Borda.[2] It was part of Operation Prahar, the district police campaign against illegal cannabis cultivation and trafficking.[2] Police said they had received information that cannabis was being grown in the Dotria outpost area, gathered more details and then raided the field.[2] The team was led by Dotria outpost in-charge Vinay Parmar.[2]

Police said they were investigating how long the cannabis had been cultivated in the field and who else was involved.[2] The operation was supervised by Superintendent of Police Sachin Sharma, with Additional Superintendents Vijay Dawar and Parul Belapurkar and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Arvind Singh Tomar directing it.[2]
