Kazan drug-control officers stopped a 36-year-old unemployed man from Pestrechinsky district who they said cultivated cannabis and made marijuana for sale.[1] They detained him in his Volkswagen Tiguan on a city car park while he waited for a buyer, and under the driver’s seat found two containers with 15 grams of marijuana confirmed by testing.[1]

At his home in Kamysh village officers seized five more glass jars of marijuana, 30 cannabis plants from a greenhouse in the yard, and equipment including seeds, fertiliser, LED lamps, ventilation, scales and packing materials.[1][2] Expert examination put the total amount of marijuana at more than three kilograms.[1][2]

City police investigators opened cases for attempted large-scale trafficking and illegal cultivation of narcotic plants, and a court ordered the man held in custody.[1][2]
