Ranjhi police in Jabalpur signalled a suspicious Ciaz car coming from the Amarkantak and Dindori direction to stop.[1][2] Officers carried out a detailed search of the car and recovered packets of ganja from inside it.[1] Police arrested two smugglers and seized the ganja, reported as worth around two and a half lakh rupees.[1] Police registered a case against all three people in the car.[1]

The weighed ganja totalled 5 kg 131 g, with an estimated value of Rs 256,500.[1][2][3] The driver was identified as 36-year-old Balkishan Nagvanshi of Pipariya, Narmadapuram.[1][2] The other two occupants were identified as 25-year-old Manish Kumar Rajak and 24-year-old Anand Srivas, both of Gohalpur, Jabalpur.[1][2]

The driver claimed he was returning after dropping tourists at Amarkantak and said the two men took a lift to Jabalpur for Rs 500 after missing their bus.[1] Police described that account as fabricated and said they were questioning the accused to establish the real facts.[1] Police said they were investigating where the ganja had been brought from and to whom it was to be supplied.[1]

Police also seized a Realme mobile phone during the search.[2]
