On 27 October 2026 personnel from PDEA-Aklan, the PDEA Region 6 seaport interdiction unit, Aklan provincial police and Kalibo municipal police used a drug-sniffing dog during a routine inspection at a courier warehouse on Diversion Road in Barangay Nalook, Kalibo.[1][2] The dog alerted on two parcels that held about 1.02 kg and 500 g of suspected dried marijuana and 25 disposable vape cartridges labelled “KALIFA KARIS”, “PEACE” and “Cali Honey” that PDEA said contained suspected cannabis oil.[1][2]
After samples went for laboratory examination, PDEA Region 6 ran an authorised controlled delivery.[1][2] On 29 October the recipient refused a parcel with about 1.02 kg of marijuana and the 25 cartridges, but accepted a second parcel at 2:46 p.m. in Kalibo.[1][2] Officers arrested a suspect known only as alias “Kanggeng” and recovered a brick of suspected marijuana flowering tops weighing about 505 g, which PDEA valued at PHP 130,000 on the street and PHP 60,000 at standard drug price.[1][2] They also took a mobile phone, packaging, a parcel box with the suspect’s name and a “HAZY KATE” sticker.[1][2]
PDEA said the case was its first successful K9-assisted courier warehouse interdiction in Western Visayas that led to a controlled delivery and arrest.[1][2] The suspect remained in PDEA custody and faced a possession charge under Section 11 of Republic Act 9165.[1][2]
