Cordillera police destroyed seven marijuana plantations in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, Kalinga, on Tuesday 27 October 2026, uprooting and burning 544,000 fully grown plants on the spot.[1][2] The Kalinga Police Provincial Office put the haul at about ₱108.8 million on the standard drug price.[1][2]
The sites covered roughly 48,500 square metres (about 4.85 hectares).[1][2] Units from the provincial drug enforcement and intelligence offices, several municipal police stations, mobile force companies and the Philippine National Police Special Action Force took part, coordinating with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).[2] The operation ran under Implementation Plan Sagumpi-II and Oplan Betubut, part of the continuing campaign against illegal cultivation.[1][2]
No suspected cultivators were arrested.[1][2] Officers collected plant samples for qualitative examination at the Kalinga Police Forensic Unit.[1][2] Provincial police chief Col. Peter Ngabit Jr. urged residents to report suspected drug activity and cooperate with enforcement.[1][2]
