Police found hundreds of harvested cannabis plants, known locally as ganja, on a plot in forest at Dusun II Sarang Kulit, Desa Ketangkuhen, Sibolangit, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, on Tuesday 8 September 2026.[1] The harvested plants were still standing on the plot when two residents hunting in the forest saw them.[1] They reported the find to village head Jois Bangun.[1] He passed the information to the Pancurbatu police chief.[1] A team from the Pancurbatu police precinct led by precinct chief Kompol Junaidi, with criminal investigation operations officer Ipda Elman and the intelligence unit, carried out the operation.[1] The officers walked more than an hour through steep terrain and forest to reach the site.[1]

Near the plot the officers found a bamboo hut with a tarpaulin roof.[1] The hut was empty and officers found no one there, Junaidi said.[1] Inside, police found dried cannabis leaves kept in buckets and sacks.[1] They also found cannabis seeds that police believed would be used for replanting.[1] Junaidi said police were still investigating who owned and managed the plot.[1]
