Officers of West Sumatra’s provincial narcotics agency, BNNP Sumatera Barat, stopped a car at the Koto Baru market junction in Agam regency at about 04:50 on Tuesday 15 September 2026.[1] The driver rammed the blockade car, badly damaging it, the agency said.[2] A search found a large blue sack holding 20 large packages of dried cannabis and 10 more packages wrapped in brown tape.[1] The officers detained the driver, a man identified only by the initial S.[1] A second man, initial A, was detained at the Ganting petrol station in Padang Panjang.[1]

The agency put the total net weight at 29,853.32 grams, about 29.85 kg.[1] Chief Toton Rasyid said the blue sack held 19,494.69 grams and the taped packages 10,358.63 grams.[1] He said officers had acted on intelligence about a planned road shipment of dried cannabis from Mandailing Natal, in North Sumatra, to Padang Panjang.[1]

The two men were held as suspects and charged under Indonesia’s 2009 narcotics law.[1] A told investigators he had been ordered by Solihin, an inmate at Bukittinggi prison, to take delivery of the 30 packages.[1] The agency said Solihin was arrested by BNNP Sumbar in 2025 in a cannabis case.[1]
