Ho Chi Minh City drug-investigation police and commune police handled 6,401 drug cases involving 17,756 alleged violators in the first 10 months of 2026.[1] In those operations they seized 518 kg of cannabis, which police call cần sa, along with more than 640 kg of synthetic drugs and nearly 15 kg of heroin.[1] Police said many large-scale interprovincial and transnational rings and dens were detected and dismantled.[1] The totals were presented on the morning of 3 November 2026 when a Central Propaganda Department delegation surveyed implementation of Politburo Directive 07-CT/TW at the Ho Chi Minh City Police, known as CATP.[1]

A city report on the same 10-month totals said units had broken up 75 organized, transnational drug cases involving 780 suspects and handled 565 cases exploiting cyberspace.[2] In a related 45-day campaign to review addicts and illegal users, police found 7,672 positive cases, prosecuted 4,669 suspects, placed more than 8,400 people under management and questioned or deterred nearly 18,000 people.[1] Police said the new approach traced supply from users to local sale points and used a heat map and online data to identify complex areas and assign officers.[1]

City police leaders said the goal of building a drug-free Ho Chi Minh City by 2030 must start from each commune and ward, with responsibility placed on local heads and participation by the whole political system.[1]
