Customs investigators are investigating two Germans aged 59 and 25 on suspicion
of dealing drugs commercially on a kilogram scale.[1][2] Both suspects were
processed for identification and then released, and face prison sentences if
convicted.[1][3] The Hanover Customs Investigation Office is continuing the
investigation on behalf of the Hanover public prosecutor’s office.[1]
On 20 October 2026 investigators searched two flats in Hanover and seized large
quantities of drugs and ketamine, which the office describes as a medicine
misused as a drug.[1][3][2] In the 59-year-old suspect’s flat officers found more
than five kilograms of marijuana, about 150 grams of hashish, about one kilogram
of cocaine and about three kilograms of ketamine, plus an irritant spray device.[1][3][2] In the 25-year-old suspect’s flat investigators seized 6,000 euros in cash
suspected to come from drug deals.[1] The case began when Giessen customs
officers found more than ten kilograms of marijuana in a postal parcel in July
addressed to the 59-year-old from Hanover, leading to the October searches.[1][3]
The office puts the estimated street sale value of all the seized substances at
about 300,000 euros.[1][2]
The office said it reported the 20 October measures only now for tactical
investigative reasons.[1] Office head Monika Dennhardt said the seized
substances were withdrawn from the illegal market, which she described as a
contribution to protecting public health.[1]

Only one source, the Zollfahndungsamt Hannover statement via Presseportal, was opened; no second report of the same event was found.
Cannabis weights are qualified as more than five kilograms of marijuana and about 150 grams of hashish, so 5.15 kg is an approximate lower bound.
The headline total of more than 20 kilograms covers marijuana, hashish, cocaine and ketamine together and cannot be separated, so only the cannabis weights are counted.
The estimated street value of about 300,000 euros covers all seized substances including cocaine and ketamine, not cannabis alone.
The more than ten kilograms of marijuana found in the July postal parcel is background to the same investigation and is not counted in the October flat-seizure figure.
Whether the lead photo of cannabis in a cupboard shows this seizure beyond its caption could not be independently established.
The Nord24 account gives no street value, so the existing about 300,000 euros estimate continues to rely on the Zollfahndungsamt statement alone.
The first Nord24 photo credited to Zoll appears to show the same agency handout already listed from Presseportal, so only the distinct cash-seizure photo is listed here.

Hannover customs officers seized three cannabis seedlings from an Austrian parcel addressed to a Hannover man on 3 November 2026. Customs opened smuggling proceedings, noting seedlings count as cannabis plants and remain subject to the import ban.
Police stopped a 23-year-old driver from Haan on the L11 between Nideggen and Brück on 2 November 2026 after reports of reckless driving. A voluntary saliva test was positive for cannabis, so officers had blood taken, seized his licence and opened a criminal case for suspected endangerment of road traffic.
About 200 customs, police and city officers checked 12 bars, shisha bars and shops in eastern Leipzig on 2 November 2026 in an anti-clan operation. Officers logged seven narcotics and cannabis-law violations and found larger quantities of narcotics in a commercial property on Eisenbahnstraße, with no separate cannabis weight published.
Duisburg police checked a 28-year-old on Königstraße in the early hours of 31 October 2026 and seized cash, two phones and a pharmacy bag with medications and hashish. Officers then searched his Alleestraße flat at the prosecutor's request, finding more painkillers and cash, and opened proceedings for suspected drug dealing.
