After 72 hours of intelligence work, NDLEA Edo operatives intercepted two articulated trucks on the Auchi–Abuja road on Saturday 11 April 2026.[1][2] The vehicles appeared to carry cartons of beer but concealed 483 bags of processed skunk cannabis totalling 7,245 kg, confirmed by field tests.[1][2]

Registration numbers OYO LUY 172 XC and OYO LUY 281 XC held 260 bags (3,900 kg) and 223 bags (3,345 kg) respectively.[1][2] State commander Mitchell Ofoyeju said the load originated in Sabongida-Ora, Owan West, and was bound for Abuja before officers stopped it.[1][2]

Ibrahim Abu, Abu Abdullazeez, Jibril Jaminu, Andrew Moses and Ganiyu Abu—all from Etsako East or Etsako West—were arrested.[1][2] Ofoyeju put the street value at ₦724.5 million and said both trucks would be forfeited as instruments of the trade while investigations continued.[1][2]
