Officers from the 4th Carabineros station in Cochrane acted on a Saturday morning after the driver of a car tried to evade a police check at about 08:50.[1][2][3][4][5] After intercepting the vehicle, officers searched it and found four bags of plant material that field testing showed was cannabis sativa.[1][6][2][3][4] With prior authorization from the Guarantee Court, Carabineros entered and searched the driver’s home, where further evidence linked to drug cultivation was found.[1][5] In the home officers detained an adult woman, an adult man and a 17-year-old, seizing about one and a half kilos of cannabis sativa from inside.[1][6][2][3][4] The driver of the vehicle that was first checked was sent to detention control before the competent court.[1][6][3] On the duty prosecutor’s instructions, the three people found in the house were given a formal warning under Article 26 of the Criminal Procedure Code to await a summons from the Public Ministry.[1][6][3]

The operation in the commune of Cochrane in Capitán Prat Province ended with the seizure of nearly one and a half kilos of marijuana and the search of a home.[1][6][5] Officers also found items associated with growing cannabis in the search and handed them to the prosecution as evidence in the investigation it directs.[1][5]

Police presented the operation as part of Carabineros control and anti-drug-trafficking work in Capitán Prat Province.[1]

The driver was formalized on Sunday 1 November for drug trafficking and the court set a 100-day investigation period.[3][4]
