On 14 January 2026 parole officers on a Gun Involved Violence Elimination detail in Chemung County found about 30 pounds of suspected cannabis while checking a parolee at a Wheaton Road residence in the town of Erin.[1][2]

State Police said the discovery gave probable cause for Troop E’s Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team to search the home with Elmira police drug officers.[1][2] Investigators seized about 45 pounds of illicit cannabis, seven pounds of concentrated cannabis, digital scales, packaging, a ledger, and cash consistent with drug sales.[1][2]

Carlos L. Colon, 35, of Erin, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of cannabis, a class D felony.[1][2] A parole violation warrant was issued and Horseheads Village Court remanded him to Chemung County Jail without bail.[1][2]
