Mexico City’s capital police detained a 46-year-old man in colonia Guerrero in
the Cuauhtémoc borough during a surveillance patrol.[1]The detention took
place at the crossing of Zarco and Moctezuma, where officers of the Secretariat
of Citizen Security (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana, SSC) saw the man
handling a plastic bag and acting evasively after noticing their presence.[1]
A preventive search found 30 small bags holding a green, dry plant material
whose characteristics apparently corresponded to marijuana.[1]Officers
informed the man of his constitutional rights and transferred him, together with
the suspected drug, to an agent of the Ministerio Público, the public
prosecutor’s office.[1]That ministerial authority was left to determine his
legal situation and continue the corresponding investigations.[1]
An authorities’ information cross-check showed the detainee had two previous
admissions to the Mexico City penitentiary system and one presentation before
the Ministerio Público for robbery in different forms in 2018 and 2022.[1]
