Cairo’s First Criminal Court circuit sitting at New Cairo sentenced two defendants to three years in prison for drug trafficking, hashish possession for use and unlicensed possession of a bladed weapon in First Al-Salam.[1] The prosecution referred a 36-year-old worker and a 16-year-old worker to the criminal court in case 2853 of 2026 for First Al-Salam felonies.[1] The referral alleged that on 20 February 2026 in the First Al-Salam police-station district they held an indazole-carboxamide-derivative drug for trafficking and hashish for use, plus cutter blades without a licence.[1]

A First Al-Salam detective said he received information that the pair were trafficking drugs, went to where they were and saw them sharing a tobacco cigarette smelling of drugs.[1] He said he arrested both, took the cigarette from the first defendant’s hand and a bladed weapon from the second, and found bags of drugs on the first and other drug bags, cash and another weapon on the second.[1] The central chemical laboratories reported that the seized material contained an indazole-carboxamide derivative listed in Schedule 1 of the drug law, in weights of 101.34 grams and 78.50 grams.[1] The same report found that the seized tobacco roll with burn marks held the same drug.[1] Urine-sample reports were positive for a hashish metabolite and phenethylamine derivatives for the first defendant and for a phenethylamine derivative for the second.[1] The prosecution additionally charged the first defendant with possessing a phenethylamine-derivative drug for use.[1]

After investigation and evidence, the prosecution sent both to the criminal court with continued pretrial detention, and the court sentenced them to three years.[1] The verdict was issued under presiding judge Khaled Mohamed Radwan with judges Mahmoud Abdoh El-Qarmouti, Samir Salah El-Din and Tamer Ahmed Reda.[1]
