The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced one man to six years of rigorous imprisonment and a 10,000-Egyptian-pound fine for possessing drugs and trafficking in them in Al-Basatin.[1] A chemical-laboratory report found that a seized bag held brown pieces that tested as hashish, which the report described as listed in the first schedule of the anti-drugs law.[1]

Cairo Security Directorate officers opened the case after receiving information and investigation findings indicating that a person was holding drugs and trafficking in them.[1] After further investigation and information-gathering, officers identified the accused and prepared the necessary ambushes before Cairo Security Directorate forces arrested him.[1] A search of the man found a bag containing hashish and strox, along with a sum of money and two mobile phones.[1]

Officers said the man admitted when confronted that he held the seized items for profit and trafficking.[1] He said the seized money came from sales proceeds and that he used the mobile phones to make contact with his customers easier.[1] Police then completed the required legal procedures in the case.[1]
