Authorities released Hussein Ahmed Hossam Mido, son of former Zamalek and Egypt player Ahmed Hossam Mido, after he completed a seven-month jail term for drug possession and use, resisting authorities and damaging public property.[1] The juvenile court at the Amiriya courts complex had sentenced him in May 2026 to seven months in prison on charges of possessing and using drugs, resisting authorities and damaging public property.[1] The sentence comprised three months with enforcement for hashish use, three more months for resisting authorities and one month for damage, totalling seven months.[1]
The court also fined him 100 pounds for driving without a licence and 200 pounds for driving under the influence of an intoxicant and consuming alcohol.[1] His defence appealed the sentence to the juvenile misdemeanour appeal court.[1] On 22 June 2026 that court rejected the appeal and upheld the seven-month prison term.[1] After the appeal was upheld he continued serving the term until the detention ended and he was released.[1]
The case began when officers stopped the car he was driving on the Mohamed bin Zayed axis toward the Middle Ring Road inside the Fifth Settlement police district in New Cairo.[1] Officers examined the car and its driver and found drugs and alcoholic drinks, and found that he held no driving licence.[1] Investigators then sent him for forensic medical examination to test for drug use and identify the substances.[1] The court heard witnesses and reviewed the medical test results before issuing the seven-month prison term and related fines.[1]
