Police in Burgas reported weekend drug-driving checks on 31 October and 1 November, with roadside tests showing cocaine, cannabis, amphetamine and methamphetamine.[1][2] Second District officers stopped a Peugeot Partner with Varna registration on Odrin Street in Burgas at about 13:20.[3] The Odrin Street stop took place on 31 October within that weekend enforcement period.[1] The car was driven by a 20-year-old man from Primorsko.[1][2]

A roadside drug test indicated that the Primorsko driver had used cannabis.[1][2] The driver refused to provide a blood sample for confirmatory chemical analysis.[3] Officers detained the driver for 24 hours after the check.[1][2] Police opened fast-track proceedings in connection with his case.[3]

Police described the Primorsko case as driving after cannabis use, distinct from the other substances in the same roundup.[3] The same weekend roundup also recorded positive results for cocaine, amphetamine and methamphetamine in other driver stops.[3] Two of the drivers in the wider roundup refused to provide samples for laboratory testing.[1] Fast-track proceedings were opened against all of the drivers in the weekend roundup.[1][2]
