Police in the Burgas region recorded five cases of drug possession in checks
within a single day, the Burgas regional police directorate said.[1] The
checks took place on 29 October 2026.[2] Three men were detained for up to 24
hours, the directorate said.[1] Fast-track proceedings were opened in all five
cases.[1]
The largest quantity was found in the Kraimorie quarter, where officers stopped
a 21-year-old man at about 17:10 and then searched his home on Lorna Street; the
case totalled about 50 grams of marijuana and about 1 gram of cocaine.[1][3][4][5] In
Meden Rudnik, officers searched a home on Preobrazhenska Street lived in by a
33-year-old man.[1] They found about 33 grams of cannabis in a glass bowl and
three foil wraps.[1] A 22-year-old man’s apartment in block 20 of the same
quarter held about 5 grams of marijuana.[1] A search of a 27-year-old man’s
home in Dolno Ezerovo found 5 grams.[1] In Novo Panicharevo, a village in
Primorsko municipality, police found 10 grams of cannabis in the home of a
36-year-old man.[1]
In total, police seized about 103 grams of cannabis and about 1 gram of cocaine,
the directorate said.[1][6] It described the Kraimorie find as separate from
those four men.[7] The police did not say whether the drugs were intended for
distribution.[1]
Reports differ on detentions: the police account reported by Burgas Online says three men were held for up to 24 hours, BurgasMedia says four and EraNova five.
BurgasMedia counts the Kraimorie case separately from the other four men, while the police account reported by Burgas Online and EraNova's report treat all five as checks within one day.
No charges, court dates or outcomes in the five fast-track proceedings were reported.
The police did not say whether the drugs were intended for distribution.
The submitted article's only image is an illustration of parked cars, not of the checks, so no photo of the event was listed.
Left out, as its quotation was not found in BurgasMedia: BurgasMedia reported that four men were detained in Burgas and Primorsko with more than 50 grams of marijuana.
BurgasMedia gives the time of the Kraimorie street check as about 17:00, while the police account reported by Burgas Online gives about 17:10; the report keeps the police time.
Police found 103 kg of marijuana, in the form of 159 cannabis plants left to dry, at a private property in Grashevo, a village in Velingrad municipality, during a special operation across Pazardzhik region. No arrest at the property was reported, and the directorate named no suspect or owner.
Police in Pomorie seized 2 grams of marijuana from a 44-year-old man on 30 October during two days of drug checks on four men. The same checks also yielded methamphetamine from three other men, which is excluded from the cannabis total.
DANS and GDBOP found 250kg of marijuana worth €2M and a suspected smuggling helicopter at a former grain store in Zimnitsa on 1 June 2026. Four people were placed in pre-trial detention as the helicopter's role was examined.
Border dog Boyar led officers to 70.064kg of marijuana (€573,170) hidden in gas cylinders of two Turkey-bound vehicles at Malko Tarnovo. Four men were arrested.
